Proceeding contribution from Viscount Bledisloe (Crossbench) in the House of Lords on Friday, 10 February 2006. It occurred during Debates on delegated legislation on Cattle Compensation (England) Order 2006.
Cattle Compensation (England) Order 2006
My Lords, I must declare an interest. My family has a sizeable dairy herd and we recently had a large number of TB cases, for which we have received compensation under the old system. I fear that we may have further cases, compensation for which will fall under the new system. Therefore I cannot claim to be a disinterested outsider, but I have, I hope, applied a lot of detachment to my arguments, which I hope are sound rather than merely emotive. I have already made my primary point in a letter to the Minister, so he has had warning of it and can deal with it—I see he is shaking his head. I wrote to him a week ago.
