Electoral Administration Bill

I am grateful to the Minister for her, as ever, helpful approach. I still express my surprise that we are in Grand Committee and do not have any proposals so long after the problem was identified. That leaves me with the sinking feeling that we are going to put bits and pieces together. On the Minister’s specific points, I interrupted to explain that my amendment has a different meaning from the 1983 legislation, which I have in front of me. The specific intention was to get away from the old service registration. You would be qualified as a member of the Armed Forces and then the employer—normally the Ministry of Defence, but not always—would have a responsibility to facilitate your registration. Whether I had got my drafting right or wrong is up to the experts.
