Proceeding contribution from Baroness Ashton of Upholland (Labour) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 16 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Electoral Administration Bill.
Electoral Administration Bill
I am sorry to interrupt the noble Baroness. After the first year when the electoral register in Northern Ireland was cleaned up, it then dipped again. While I agree with the noble Baroness that this can be looked at in different ways, one year’s figures might reveal a cleaner register but the second year showed that we still had a problem. That is why we have to think again and look carefully at what actually happened.
