Proceeding contribution from Nick Palmer (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 21 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Identity Cards Bill.
Identity Cards Bill
: On a point of order, Madam Deputy Speaker. In his earlier remarks, the hon. and learned Member for Harborough (Mr. Garnier) said that he completely disagreed with the assertion that the Opposition had not taken all the time available to the Committee. I wonder whether you would now like to give him the opportunity to avoid misleading the House on that. I have the relevant copy of Hansard here, in which your colleague, the Chairman of the Committee, says, perhaps a little sarcastically, that"““for reasons I cannot even begin to contemplate, the Committee wants to complete its proceedings in this sitting.””—[Official Report, Standing Committee D, 21 July 2005; c. 423.]" That is, one sitting earlier than necessary.
