Proceeding contribution from Lord Wills (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 30 March 2006. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Small Claims (Courts).
Small Claims (Courts)
Before the right hon. Gentleman moves on, I would like to clarify something. I take his point that all claimants should have proper advice before going to court, but does he recognise that there are concerns about the disproportionate benefits enjoyed by defendants, who will almost always be legally represented throughout the process, whereas many claimants will not be represented in court, particularly if the limits are raised? The defendant therefore enjoys a disproportionate advantage. Does the right hon. Gentleman recognise those concerns?
