Proceeding contribution from Yvette Cooper (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 11 May 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Housing Corporation (Delegation) Etc Bill 2005-06.
Housing Corporation (Delegation) Etc Bill
I beg to move,"That the Order of 25th April 2006 (Housing Corporation (Delegation) etc. Bill""(Programme)) be varied as follows:""1. Paragraphs 4 and 5 of the Order shall be omitted.""2. Proceedings on consideration shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion two hours after the commencement of proceedings on the motion for this Order.""3. Proceedings on Third Reading shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion three hours after the commencement of proceedings on the motion for this Order." We have had wide consensus on the Bill, both on the content and on the need to ensure that it reaches the statute book at the earliest opportunity. I thank the Opposition parties for their support for the Bill and for their willingness to meet representatives of the Housing Corporation and lenders in order to discuss the detail. Accordingly, I hope all Members will support the programme motion.
