Proceeding contribution from Lord Roberts of Llandudno (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Monday, 12 June 2006. It occurred during Debates on delegated legislation on Lord Chancellor (Transfer of Functions and Supplementary Provisions) (No. 3) Order 2006.

Lord Chancellor (Transfer of Functions and Supplementary Provisions) (No. 3) Order 2006

My Lords, I add to the concern that has been expressed by my noble friend Lord Tordoff. It seems totally incomprehensible that someone can be a Church Commissioner possibly without any religious belief whatever. They might as well make me president of the National Secular Society. This should be looked at again. I am sure that I am not the only person in the Chamber to express a certain hesitation about this responsibility.
