Proceeding contribution from Lord Archer of Sandwell (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 12 June 2006. It occurred during Debates on delegated legislation on Lord Chancellor (Transfer of Functions and Supplementary Provisions) (No. 3) Order 2006.

Lord Chancellor (Transfer of Functions and Supplementary Provisions) (No. 3) Order 2006

My Lords, there is a precedent for this position. I was once an ex officio Church Commissioner and, as far as I was able to ascertain from the records, I was the first Methodist lay preacher ever to be a Church Commissioner. It created no problems, and occasionally I was able to make a helpful suggestion.
