Proceeding contribution from Jonathan Djanogly (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 17 October 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Companies Bill (HL).

Companies Bill [Lords] (Programme) (No. 3)

I thank the Minister for giving way. The reason that I spoke for two hours on the takeover panel is that it is an important aspect of corporate life in this country, but perhaps she fails to appreciate that. We needed to speak about it. She mentioned the number of people in Committee, but I must remind her that it was during Committee that, for the first time in history, the Opposition defeated a programme motion because the Minister could not get her own people there.
