Proceeding contribution from Lord Burnett (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Monday, 26 March 2007. It occurred during Debate on bill on Serious Crime Bill [HL].
Serious Crime Bill [HL]
We support the amendment. It tightens up the provisions on data matching by ensuring that it can take place only under an agreed code of practice. It goes some small way to balancing the interests of the state with the interests of the public. That is why we support it.
