Proceeding contribution from Lord Greaves (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 10 July 2007. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Bill.
Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Bill
The Minister puts her finger on what alarms me about the situation. I am less alarmed that the provision has been there for seven years and nobody has done anything about it—perhaps it will be there for another seven without anybody doing anything—than by the fact that the new model of elected executives, which is set out in great detail here and clearly leads to all kinds of questions and problems, could have been provided for in a regulation under the 2000 Act. Having said that, at this stage I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. [Amendment No. 117 not moved.]
