Home Affairs
I am grateful to the Leader of the House for being generous in giving way. She is making several presumptions about decisions that are rightly decisions for the Committee rather than for the House. Would it not be in order for the Committee on Home Affairs to meet and choose to elect another from among its membership to be Chairman or acting Chairman, pending the vacancy created by the promotion of the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills being filled? The Committee could have continued to operate without this motion.
