Proceeding contribution from Peter Bottomley (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 25 July 2007. It occurred during Debate on Home Affairs.
Home Affairs
The Leader of the House has heard the views expressed in this Chamber, and is now able to reconsider her arguments. May I invite her to consider withdrawing the motion and not putting it forward for decision today? In addition, has the acting Chairman been getting the additional salary due to the post over the past month? Would not it be better to let the acting Chairman take that money over the summer so that the Committee can get on with its work? We could then come back to the matter in October.
