Proceeding contribution from Andy Burnham (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 15 January 2008. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HC) and Debate on bill on European Communities (Finance) Bill.

European Communities (Finance) Bill

I am disappointed that the hon. Gentleman did not let me finish my point. The Commission document says that there will be a fundamental, no-taboos review. That is what we secured. I have explained clearly why the new clause is utterly defective. It would leave this country totally isolated in Europe. I can only conclude that that is where he and his whole party want us to be. Question put, That the clause be read a Second time:— The Committee divided: Ayes 216, Noes 301.
