Proceeding contribution from Lord Hodgson of Astley Abbotts (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 21 January 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Bill [HL].

Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Bill [HL]

I am grateful to the Minister. I am particularly grateful to my noble friend Lord Cope who hammered home the points with an elegance and vigour that I cannot hope to match. I am relieved and reassured by this definition of ““consistent”” to include predictability and regulatory stability. Since I have quoted codes at the Minister at length, I am slightly hoisted by my own petard. Having had those reassurances from the Minister about the interpretation of ““consistent””, I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Clause 5 agreed to.
