Proceeding contribution from Simon Hughes (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 29 January 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HC) on European Union (Amendment) Bill.

European Union (Amendment) Bill

On a point of order, Madam Deputy Speaker. ... It is a separate point of order in relation to yesterday's business and the business ahead for today. Yesterday, we voted to change our procedures, and that was done perfectly properly. Mr. Speaker selected some amendments and not others. Madam Deputy Speaker, will you tell the House whether the ruling that you just gave is a result of the decision that we took yesterday, or whether it is because of the Standing Orders, irrespective of yesterday?
