Proceeding contribution from David Chaytor (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 5 March 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HC) on European Union (Amendment) Bill.

European Union (Amendment) Bill

For those of us who find the idea of an in-out referendum at some point in the future extremely attractive, does the right hon. Gentleman accept that his party’s decision to abstain on the amendment has weakened its capacity to put forward the very pro-European views that he advocates?
