Proceeding contribution from Kali Mountford (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 19 March 2008. It occurred during Opposition day on Post Office Closures.

Post Office Closures

I am grateful to my right hon. Friend for giving way on that very point. Will he warn people—especially people such as Nicola Turner, the Liberal Democrat councillor in my area—to be careful not simply to stick a pin in the map and simplistically say, ““I'm putting a circle of three miles around each post office,”” before coming up with a figure for which post offices will be closed? If we look at things in that way and do not look at the entire picture and at all the criteria, we will leave people feeling unnecessarily vulnerable and that their post offices will be closed, when that is entirely not the case.
