Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill
Does my hon. Friend acknowledge that it is important when considering animal-human hybrid research to demonstrate that it is necessary and that all other avenues and alternatives—adult stem cell research, induced pluripotent stem cells, umbilical cord research—have been considered? Will he commend Lord Hunt's test that the HFEA must be satisfied that there is no other way of conducting the research or avoiding embryo use? Would it help if that were made explicit in the Bill?
