Proceeding contribution from Lord Adonis (Labour) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 3 July 2008. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Education and Skills Bill.

Education and Skills Bill

I understand the point that noble Baroness makes; I will reflect on it further and ask my officials to look again at the issue to see whether there could be any benefit from extending that. We are not against extending the list on principle; as I say, the list was taken from Section 120 of the 2000 Act and we were keen not to be seen to extending the powers to provide information more widely than absolutely necessary, for all the data protection reasons that we discussed earlier.
