Proceeding contribution from Anthony Steen (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 8 July 2008. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Human Trafficking.

Human Trafficking

Interventions from the hon. Gentleman are always worth listening to. He has an immense amount of experience,. I visited the United Nations conference in Vienna with him, which was an education for me and, I think, a mild education for him. His point was well made. I am sure that when the Council of Europe convention on action against trafficking in human beings is ratified—I hope that the Minister will say something about that—local authorities will get into gear and become more sympathetic and sensitive to the problem, but I reckon that the problem is lack of resources. Until they receive more resources, they have enough on their hands without this problem.
