Criminal Evidence (Witness Anonymity) Bill
I really cannot understand the Government's argument that there is a lack of clarity about the counsel's role, given that it is set out explicitly in new clause 7, which is in my hon. Friend's name. What could be more explicit than the phrase"““an independent counsel to assist the court””," followed by a reference to the independent counsel's acting on the direction of the court in such a way as the court may see fit?
