Proceeding contribution from Kelvin Hopkins (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 23 October 2008. It occurred during Topical debate on Work and Skills.

Work and Skills

The distinction of second intervener is one of which I am very proud. The hon. Gentleman has been talking about his constituency, which is a fine place with lots of highly educated and skilled people. However, have not the Government a duty to try to compensate in areas without such advantages and where skills have to be driven much harder if there are to be better opportunities in future?
