Proceeding contribution from Lord Henley (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 30 April 2009. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Political Parties and Elections Bill.
Political Parties and Elections Bill
It might have been blown to smithereens on that one point but it still exists here. It is a valid point that has to be borne in mind. I go back to my first and second points, which are the more important. We need a consensus and, if the noble Lord’s real concern is the disproportionate influence coming from individual donors, the route that he should look at is a cap on donations, which must affect all bodies and not just individuals.
