Political Parties and Elections Bill

I am very grateful to the noble Lord, Lord Marland, in particular, because I know that we share a great deal of concern about the reputation of our political system and we are seeking practical ways in which to go forward. At this stage, I can say only that we will look at the matter very carefully. I am very grateful to the Minister because he recognised that there is a genuine anxiety here that we all share. However, finding the right practical solution is more elusive. We will look carefully at what the Minister said and at what the noble Lord, Lord Marland, said, because he speaks with great practical experience in this field as a former national treasurer of the Conservative Party. If we can find a way in which this can be addressed more effectively between now and Report, we will bring it back. In the mean time, I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment 89 withdrawn.
