Proceeding contribution from Patrick Mercer (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 24 June 2009. It occurred during Opposition day on Iraq Inquiry.

Iraq Inquiry

I am most grateful to the Foreign Secretary. The Chief of the General Staff has made clear in the newspapers this morning that there were not enough troops to dedicate to Iraq, and that, even if there had been, the political will would not have been there. Will the Foreign Secretary guarantee that the balance of our fighting power, how and when it is deployed, and the mistakes that were made will be properly examined by the committee?
