Parliamentary Standards Bill

My Lords, we are all delighted to hear the noble Baroness’s statement and are extremely grateful to her for making it so clearly. The issue of timing has arisen in the course of this debate and my view is that ideally there should be time to properly review the relationships between Parliament, Government and the public to establish key principles and build upon them. It is also my view that this Bill is not a suitable vehicle for that purpose, but of course we shall see in the course of amending it.
