Proceeding contribution from Lord Ramsbotham (Crossbench) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 11 November 2009. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Skills for Growth.
Skills for Growth
My Lords, I did not have the advantage of seeing the Statement before hearing it from the Minister, but I thank him very much for what he said, particularly about the opportunities for those with learning disabilities and others. However, a number of us in this House are concerned that at the end of the discussion on the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Bill last night that there was a danger that a lot of promises were being made which would encourage young people to think that these opportunities would be available, yet there was the possibility of the resources not being available. Was I correct in understanding the Minister to say that there would not be cuts in the programmes that were discussed during the apprenticeships Bill yesterday?
