Proceeding contribution from Mike O'Brien (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 14 January 2010. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Thalidomide Survivors.

Thalidomide Survivors

My hon. Friend asks about convening a meeting, but Health Ministers are in regular contact in any event. The Government have certainly been in contact with the devolved Administrations about the settlement. I entirely agree that we should congratulate my hon. Friend the Member for Gower (Mr. Caton), who has led the campaign in this House. We will be holding a reception at the Department of Health after this statement, which I hope some of the thalidomiders will be able to attend. I hope that my hon. Friend will also be able to attend, along with those who have been strongly involved in ensuring that the campaign was brought to a successful conclusion.
