Child Poverty Bill

My Lords, I am sorry to intervene but it seems that there will be an equal backlash if attempts by people to make the lives of the next generation better are seen to be penalised by a guesstimate. If somebody says "I guess that you are earning more because your daughter is better dressed", it would cause outrage, not least from me and many others. It is a question of balance and fairness. Guessing, estimating and saying that maybe one person is better off than another is a very unstable basis for fairness.
