Proceeding contribution from Tony Lloyd (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 10 February 2010. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Professional Football (Regulation).
Professional Football (Regulation)
Only because I want to appeal to the global audience. The NFL—the National Football League in America—regulates American football and has very strict limits on the amount of debt that clubs can take on board. Frankly, if that is good enough for the Americans in this sporting context, we ought to learn at least some of the lessons from the United States and impose them over here.
