Proceeding contribution from Harry Cohen (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 9 March 2010. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Raising of the Pension Age.
Raising of the Pension Age
We all know that it was a Labour Government. However, Lord Turner also said in his report:""Some people suggest that this expense should be offset by raising the state pensions age to, for instance, 70. This would however have the disadvantage that the losers would be those on lowest income: both because they will typically have worked for longer and because they have shorter life expectancy in retirement.""
