Proceeding contribution from William Cash (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 16 March 2010. It occurred during Opposition day on Equitable Life.
Equitable Life
I agree with everything that my hon. Friend has said so far. Does he agree that this debate is rather like watching paint dry but without the paint? According to the action group's spokesman today, more than 1 million people have lost £4 billion, but it is estimated that only several hundred million pounds, at most, will be recovered. In those circumstances, it is not only a question of those who have died, but also of those who will continue to live. Under present arrangements, they will not get anything realistic.
