Proceeding contribution from Gary Streeter (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 3 September 2009. It occurred during Grand Committee proceedings (HC) on Economic Downturn (Unemployment).
Economic Downturn (Unemployment)
To answer the Minister’s question directly, the difference is that when we meet in the House of Commons and question Ministers, they are in a position to do something about it. They have power and authority to make decisions, similarly in debates. Here, the Minister has already admitted that he has no power to make decisions, only to co-ordinate and facilitate.
