Proceeding contribution from Linda Gilroy (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 3 September 2009. It occurred during Grand Committee proceedings (HC) on Economic Downturn (Unemployment).

Economic Downturn (Unemployment)

I cannot resist having the opportunity of a DEFRA Minister to say will he please thank the Under-Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the hon. Member for Ogmore (Huw Irranca-Davies) for the way in which he has engaged with Liberal Democrats and me to try to find a way forward from the consequences of the botched Tory privatisation and the horrendously high bills that we have had? Would he please also welcome the Damascene conversion of the hon. Member for South-West Devon in welcoming the investment at Langage energy park—if I heard him correctly—because he opposed it hook, line and sinker and said that there would never be any jobs, whereas it is patently clear that there now will be?
