Building Britain's Future

My hon. Friend is a great champion of the scheme in her constituency. I know from personal experience the benefits that railways can bring, so I wish her the best of luck. Of course, let us meet or correspond after the Committee, to make sure that I am up to speed as the Regional Minister and that every opportunity is offered to her constituents. In the past 12 years, we have seen the laying of solid foundations for a confident and prosperous region, and that has been achieved through strong and decisive government. We have led from the front and will continue to do so to ensure that we emerge from the downturn with a clear direction forward and stronger than ever before.
