Proceeding contribution from Liam Byrne (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 13 July 2010. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HC) and Debate on bill on Finance Bill.

Finance Bill

If the hon. Gentleman will forgive me, I will reveal my hand on our voting strategy slightly later on in the debate. The point is clear. We are seeking from the Government a number of protections to ensure that the people we think will be hit by VAT are not hit by it. If our amendments are not successful, we shall of course oppose the clause.
