Proceeding contribution from Bob Russell (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 13 July 2010. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HC) and Debate on bill on Finance Bill.

Finance Bill

Where there's a will, there's way. The Treasury could find a way of offsetting the cost for the mountain rescue services, just as the Labour Government found a way of offsetting the VAT that would have been put on poppies if they had continued with a particular piece of legislation. The question I put earlier has not been answered. What is the percentage of the VAT increase to be borne by charities in relation to the total increase that will be collected if VAT rises to 20%?
