Proceeding contribution from Bernard Jenkin (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 7 December 2010. It occurred during Debate on bill on European Union Bill.

European Union Bill

In our manifesto we promised to amend the European Communities Act 1972, and the coalition agreement states:"““We will amend the 1972 European Communities Act so that any proposed future treaty that transferred areas of power, or competences, would be subject to a referendum on that treaty—a 'referendum lock'.””" But the Bill does not amend that Act.
