Proceeding contribution from Lord Bach (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 13 December 2010. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill.

Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill

I have to say that the possibility of that kind of appeal clogging up an already busy system is not one that we would support, particularly at this stage. We cannot support the amendment, although we are grateful to my noble friend for raising this subject—as, I am sure, the Committee is—because the issue has exercised this House a great deal over the past few years. We very much look forward to the Government coming up with their proposals in the next few weeks.
