Proceeding contribution from Lord Strathclyde (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 17 January 2011. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill.

Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill

Our policy is crystal clear. There should be 600 Members of Parliament in the House of Commons, 50 fewer than the current number. We believe that that is sufficient for MPs to do their business. We believe in equality of votes around the country, with constituencies averaging roughly 75,000. That is a very clear policy. I will give way to the noble Lord, Lord Soley, once in my wind-up. Does he want to use it up now?
