Proceeding contribution from Lord Baker of Dorking (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 31 January 2011. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill.
Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill
No, I will not give way to the noble Lord: I think we have heard enough from him and that he should contain himself. I feel that that is in fact the reality of the situation which we will be faced with, but the arguments that I have seen on the Boundary Commission are, in practical terms, that it works very well indeed. It publishes all its findings and the way in which is going to work. It has a procedure for inquiries which has stood the test of time. We should leave the commissioners to it. Clause 12 agreed.
