Proceeding contribution from Nicholas Dakin (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 2 March 2011. It occurred during Estimates day on Sure Start Children's Centres.
Sure Start Children's Centres
The hon. Gentleman is making a powerful case. One of the Select Committee conclusions is:"““Children's centres are a substantial investment with a sound rationale, and it is vital that this investment is allowed to bear fruit over the long term.””" The hon. Gentleman is reminding us of the necessity to consider the long term. The long term is even longer than 10 years, as he rightly points out, so now is not the time to fiddle with this provision.
