Proceeding contribution from Jim Shannon (Democratic Unionist Party) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 24 March 2011. It occurred during Adjournment debate and Backbench debate on Coastguard Service.
Coastguard Service
I thank the hon. Lady for her contribution, which is very honest. The hon. Lady and I, with the SDLP and the Alliance party, met some coastguard officials, and the meeting was excellent. I know that the Minister met the First Minister, Peter Robinson, and the Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness. We have come a long way in Northern Ireland. We crossed that divide a long time ago, and I want the Minister to know that we have moved on. It is great that we can have an issue that unites us all.
