Proceeding contribution from Lord Cameron of Chipping Norton (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 13 July 2011. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Phone Hacking.

Phone Hacking

My hon. Friend has made a good point, but I think that if we are to try to get this right, we must all put our hands up and say, β€œβ€œYes, of course the last Government should have done more to respond to the Richard Thomas reports and the DCMS reports, but we must also ask why the Opposition did not press them more to do so.”” We shall all have to answer questions on that basis, and look through the reports and see what was suggested, what was the evidence, and what more could have been done. We will never solve this if we try to do it on a party basis; we must try to do it on a cross-party basis.
