Proceeding contribution from Lord Foulkes of Cumnock (Labour) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 20 October 2011. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Welfare Reform Bill.

Welfare Reform Bill

If the Government are doing all of this, why has the Minister not been able to persuade any Conservative Back-Benchers to come along to the Committee to support him, by their presence if not by their contributions? Is that maybe why the Government Chief Whip wanted the Committee tucked away up here, so that we would not expose the lack of enthusiasm for this issue among Conservative Back-Benchers?
