National Policy Statements
Paragraph 4.4.1 of the national policy statement states: "““Ports in England and Wales operate on commercial lines, without public subsidy and with investment from their own operating profits or from the private sector investors.””" Will the Minister assure me that the Government will uphold that policy rigorously and fairly, particularly given the desire of the port of Liverpool to use a publicly funded cruise terminal to compete with the privately funded cruise terminals in Southampton, which breaches the principle of fair competition?
