Proceeding contribution from Naomi Long (Alliance) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 1 November 2011. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Youth Employment.
Youth Employment
One of the areas where there is a direct crossover between the Northern Ireland Assembly and Westminster is welfare reform. One of the concerns that I know people will have about welfare reform is how the Work programme will translate in Northern Ireland, where the job market is more sluggish and where there is a much smaller region to deal with. Has the Minister given any thought as to what representations he can make to his colleagues in the DWP about how to implement something along the lines of the Work programme that would be effective for Northern Ireland’s circumstances?
