Ministerial correction made by Jim Murphy (Labour) on Monday, 14 January 2008, in the House of Commons on behalf of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Funding of Political Parties

The Minister for Europe (Mr. Jim Murphy): ...The Government support the proposal in the draft regulation to enable European political parties to carry over funding. Political parties will be allowed to carry over 20 per cent. of annual total income from one year to the first quarter of the following year . —[European Standing Committee, 11 December 2007; c. 3] Letter of correction from Mr. Murphy: I should like to correct what I said in my opening speech in the European Standing Committee debate on ““Funding of Political Parties””. In fact, European political parties will be allowed to carry over 25 per cent. of annual total income. I am copying this letter to John Cummings, Chairman of the Standing Committee.
