Written statement made by Lord Bach (Labour) on Thursday, 11 March 2010 in the House of Lords, on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.
Sentencing Guidelines Council
My right honourable friend the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice (Jack Straw) has made the following Written Ministerial Statement. I have today laid before Parliament the final joint annual report of the Sentencing Guidelines Council and the Sentencing Advisory Panel. The report gives details of the excellent work they have achieved during the past 10 years, which the Sentencing Council, created by the Coroners and Justice Act 2009, will build upon in future. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members, past and present, of both bodies for their hard work in realising the significant achievements of the last decade.
